  1. I think it is very important to turn off your phone or computer to have time for yourself. It is a way to get away from society and reflect on your life. i believe this is crucial for every person only to keep their sanity. Our lives are constantly always full of distractions by technology. This resulted in our relationships with other people changing for the worse because we can hide behind screens. Therefore I believe everyone should spend a little bit of each day without technology, keeping it from getting in the way of our lives.

  2. As much fun as the internet and your phone can be, it's important to turn them off ever so often and spend time with your family or by yourself. Not using electronics 24/7 allows you to stay grounded and develop relationships, like with family or friends. It also makes you interact more in the real world instead of virtual. Instead of spending the whole night on your WoW account you could hangout with friends or have dinner with family. Even though I love my phone and computer as much as the next person, I do believe that everyone should make an effort to spend less time on twitter and reddit and more time with the world around you.

  3. I definitely thnik it is very important to spend time away from electronic devices such as cell phones nd computers. People can become extremely occupied in these things and the can prevent them from fully experiecncing life. It also restricts people from spending time with their family. There is no doubt that electronic devices make our lifes a lot easier, but there are surely times where it necessay to just put them away.

  4. I believe it is very important to turn off your phone and spend time either with yourself or with your family. Technology has a way of taking over people's lives and in order to stay in touch with society everyone needs to have some time without technology. When you spend time alone, it allows you to get in touch with yourself. At night rather than spending time on the computer or your phone you could spend some quality time with your family and friends.

  5. I feel that our society and this world would not be able to function and would be sent back to the "stone age" without electronic devices. But i also believe that people should without question focus on spending time away from them whenever possible. I think that humans wouldnt make it more than a month without them. I would not be happy if all cellphones and computers got shut down, but i guess that i would just have to deal with it. I have gone hours, and even days without my phone or my computer just because i get bored of it all and i want a break. It is not hard for me to detach, but there are many instances where i need, or am forced to use one of the two for a school, or work related task.

  6. I feel people are a lot more true to their personality without all of the electronics around. Spending time around your family with your phone and without your phone are completely different. It is also very hard to focus or complete a task while you are checking your phone constantly. People’s personalities truly come out while they are not consumed in their electronics. Therefore I feel the importance of not having electronics around all the time is essential to being your self

  7. Unplugging from electronics plays a highly important role in a person's relation with oneself. Modern-day technology has people blocked off from life. These several distractions play a role in our society. Ralph Waldo Emerson, for example, uses the stars as an example of unnoticed beauties. Henry David Thoreau also acknowledges his newfound experiences in the woods, isolated from society. Without my phone, laptop, iPod, etc., I feel more connected with myself. For example, I study more efficiently and productively. This self-enlightenment signifies the importance of the occasional unplugging from technology.

  8. I understand that it's important at times to be focusing on things other than your phone or your computer. But, I don't think people need to necessarily physically separate themselves from their electronic devices. All that is needed is for the individual to utilize that electronic in moderation. There are certainly many other, more valuable, things to be spending your time on over electronics. All it takes to realize that is for one to put down their phone, computer, etc.

  9. Sometimes you really just have to get away from it all, and media isolation can be a great way to do so. This sounds incredibly corny, but people really don't communicate the way they used to. Everything is electronic now, and even if you are having a conversation with someone, chances are that they are going to whip out their phone right in the middle. And as a teen who has never used Facebook, twitter, etc., it really isn't a necessity to our everyday lives. Sure it can be enjoyable, but it's just another tool to separate us from the physical world. As for spending time alone; I think it would be more beneficial to spend time socializing with other people and having experiences. Obligatory Henry David Thoreau mention, he said that leading a simpler life is a happy life, which is why he isolated himself for two years at Walden Pond. So I guess the reason to abandon your electronics for a while is to reconnect with the outside world, something that we frequently overlook these days.

  10. Technology for many gives a person a way to escape but sometimes it takes away their lives. It isolates people and makes them anti-social. It is important to turn off people phones so they can spend more time with family and friends. Also peoples grades may slip if they are too obsessed with technology. Just like Thoreau stated, the railroad people created ended up riding over them. Meaning that modern inventions rule peoples lives instead of people controlling the inventions. That is why it is important to turn off phones.

  11. It is important to take time away from technologly to give ourselves a break. People in today's society need to take time off and just relax. Sometimes what seem like a useful, helpful tool can actually be detrimental to your work and usage of time.I can say personally at times I am extremely stressed but I usually never get a break that I want or sometimes need. We need to allow ourselves some time away from technology to just unwind, to relax, to not worry ourselves. If we don't just relax the outcome could be catastrophic.

  12. Cell phones and other electronics can have a quite ironic impacts on our lives. Though they are intended to up our day to day productivity, at times they can hinder it. I think it is important to set aside electronics in order to focus on things we need to do and the people we should be spending time with. Electronics can occupy our time causing us to be less connected with our family. They can also keep us from being productive in work, school, and other areas that require devout attention and focus. When you get off the phone and computer and spend time alone it’s amazing how much more you can get done. Sometimes it is important to set aside one's "pretty toys".

  13. Technology plays a large role in our lives, but our activities away from technology expand your skill set and mind. It is important to unplug the electronics because spending time alone or with people leads to greater personality and individualism. Cutting out such distractions makes us more effective and just more well rounded individuals. Also, technology has a certain degree of control over our lives, so taking a break only helps you achieve your true dreams and goals. So turn off your phone sometimes, because it makes you a better person.

  14. It is important to turn off our phones or computers and spend time alone because when technology is used as a distraction from things that need to be addressed about ourselves, it becomes dangerous. Our toys can be fun and innocent when used to entertainment, but it isn't healthy to grow an addiction to anything. Also, spending too much time with technology sacrifes our ablility to be social and communicate. I've noticed that's something our generation seriously lacks compared to others, and it seems to make sense that technology plays a vital role in that. Not only do we forget how to interact, but we don't really take the time to get to know ourselves. Until we love or know who WE are, it's difficult to find the ability and maturity to love another. We need a break from technology every now and then because in the end, what we really must understand is the world within ourselves, not the world of technology.

  15. I feel as though people get caught up too much in technology. People need a break once in a while to understand how addicting and obsessive it is. Many people don't realize how obsessed they are and they need to. I think that if people would stop obsessiving over the latest technology, people would be able to hold legit conversations with people instead of constantly on their "pretty toys". Getting away from technology is needed in order to remember the important things in life.

    1. If all of the electronic devices were to shut down I would be very upset. A lot of things I enjoy involve or rely on electronics working. I would feel very disconnect from others as well.

    2. Without Electronics, humanity would last for a very long time. Although there might be no civil order, people would live on.

    3. (refer to question 1)

    4. You could venture to say that humans would be better off without phones or computers, but, I disagree. The amount of fun and benefits from these two electronic devices are endless. The devices have made life more convenient and gives us more time to enjoy things, even if those thing we enjoy also deal with the electronic device.

    5. Without my phone and computer I would be fine. I could last FOREVER. But really, I have gone without many electronics for a long while during the summer and other time spans. It is not that bad.

    NEW QUESTION
It can be important to turn your phone off and just spend time alone, but not always. When I am alone with electronics I find myself researching and looking up new information about new things, and I believe knowledge is important. Sometimes it is necessary to remove yourself from life and just take it all in, without electronics, and this is okay. Breaks from electronics occasionally can help, although they are a part of life and they should be utilized to their full potential.

  18. I think it is very important to take time away from technology. Just to spend time alone allows you to be in touch with who you are and not to get wrapped up in technology. We don't realize how dependent we all are until it’s taken away from us. I feel as if we have a need to stay connected so we don’t miss out on anything that’s going and technology provides that. Having my cell phone around causes a distraction from what I need to be doing. I probably couldn’t last that long without my cell phone but I still think there are more advantages then disadvantages with most technology.
